In Latin America handicrafts are mainly produced for export. The artesanos producing these products depend on companies like ours who are willing to pay a fair price and have the ability to market their products in other countries.

The dollar figure is small compared to other exports, but in Peru at least 50% of the people make part of their income from handicrafts. The sale of their crafts through the private enterprise system has a tremendous impact on their lives. They depend on us to keep the chain going;
